Listening To The Father’s Heart

Listening To The Father’s Heart

Son, sometimes my sons and daughters can get to a place in life where their heart becomes hardened and you are drawn into sins of the flesh. You have heard that I chose my son David because he was a young man who sought me with his whole heart (Acts 13:22). Even so, over time life beat him down. He became wounded and his heart became hardened. He became successful, but proud. It was during this season in his life that David made some very bad decisions. He stole another man’s wife and even committed murder. The way back to me was through repentance (Ps 51). It was only through my grace that David was restored and I forgave him for his sin. But his sin had many consequences. He lost a son. Another son would fall to a hardened heart and allow his lust to overcome him. Thus, his legacy was destroyed as both father and son allowed wrong relationships to draw them into deception and sins of the flesh. Heed the words of my son Solomon before he wandered from me regarding issues that affected his heart: “Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it. But the correction of fools is folly. The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips” (Prov 16:22-23). Guard your heart at all costs, son, to avoid falling from my grace and failing to realize your complete destiny.

For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David. 1 Kings 11:4
