Listening To The Father’s Heart

Sometimes I simply want you to stand before me rather than move. Inaction is not a sign of inactivity if I call you to wait on me. Such was the case for my son Abraham. Rather than rushing to choose for himself, he gave his nephew the choice of land when they were forced to part ways (Gen 13:8-9). Lot chose the way of the world by choosing Sodom, but my son Abraham entrusted his future to me. He acted in faith, not knowing where he would land. Strangely, he landed at a place called Mamre, which means “place of strength.” What we perceive as weakness in the world’s eyes, I turn into a place of strength. And literally, this was a place of strength; some of my greatest oak trees flourish in this area. This too was symbolic of my son Abraham who was like a mighty oak in faith. He was an oak of righteousness before me (Isa 61:3). Abraham and I became true friends (Isa 41:8). This is my desire for you and me, too. That I not only be your Father, but we be really good friends. I love you, son.
Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord. Genesis 18:22
