Listening to the Father’s Heart

Son, my kingdom operates by a whole different set of values than the world. This is especially true regarding your enemies. I actually want you to bless those that curse you and forgive those who say things that are not true about you. If you are able to do this you will be free. If you do not, you and the offender will remain in a prison of emotional turmoil. You will keep thinking about this person. You will not have peace in your life. This can eventually lead to physical sickness. Forgiveness is actually more for you than the offender. However, I do require you to forgive if you are going to walk in the light with me (I John 1:6-7). If you choose not to forgive, I will also not forgive you (Mk. 11:26). As a leader, you will find that you will have to model this forgiveness just as my son did. This will allow my grace to continually flow through you.
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. “Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:19-21
