Listening to the Father’s Heart

Many of my sons and daughters do not understand why I express so much joy over my son David when he made so many major mistakes in his life. He was a contrast of personalities. The best way to explain my position is to show you the value I place on a person’s heart. The heart reveals everything and David’s heart was passionate and totally focused on me. His setbacks came from unresolved issues in his life. As he got older, those failures were fewer because he learned from each one. That is true of many of my sons and daughters. However, his heart was pure towards me and that is what I loved about David. This is what excites me about all my sons and daughters who give me their whole heart. I cannot tell you how much this delights me (Zeph 3:17).
Now if you walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’ 1 Kings 9:4-5
