Listening to the Father’s Heart

Listening to the Father’s Heart

Son, do you remember when I told my son Moses to send 12 spies into the Promised Land I was going to give them? I told my people I was going to give them this land, but they would have to win it in battle. Moses sent my sons into the land to spy it out to see the land and the people. Of the 12, only Caleb and Joshua viewed the situation correctly. These two did not evaluate the circumstances based on the situation; they based their view on what I promised. The others saw the giants in the land and looked at their situation based on their abilities instead of my promise of victory. The lesson for you my son is this: When I say I will do something, you must believe I will do it, just as Joshua and Caleb did. The consequence of unbelief was death for this group of my sons. “Those very men who brought the evil report about the land died by the plague before the Lord” (Numbers 14:37). Out of all the hundreds of thousands of my sons, only Joshua and Caleb earned the right to possess the new land, because they did not look at the circumstance, but chose to believe my covenant promise.

And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Num 13:32-33

Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them. Numbers 14:9
