Listening to the Father’s Heart

Listening to the Father’s Heart

Son, I have placed in every son and daughter the need to be affirmed with words. You recently noticed in your study that I very infrequently spoke audibly to my children. Moses was one of the few that I spoke to face to face (Dt. 5:4). However, on three occasions I spoke to my Son. I wanted to affirm him as my Son. It is important for my earthly fathers to affirm their own children. But, so few actually do this. This saddens me, because it leaves a void in each of my sons and daughters. That is why I had your mentor say those words to you quite unexpectedly. Your father was not very vocal. This, too, was due to his own father’s wounds. Having your father killed in the airplane crash when you were only fourteen was extremely traumatic in your life. I became your father at that point, but you could not see it. Instead, you put a shell around your heart to protect yourself from being hurt again. Over time you have discovered me. Your heart has been opened and healed in many places. Validating you with my words was part of that healing.

“This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Matt. 3:17
