Son, do you recall when my son Saul disobeyed Samuel, my prophet? I had such wonderful plans for Saul. I handpicked him for the assignment of being the first king of Israel. However, over time his insecurities led him to make poor choices. At first, they were small acts of disobedience, but these acts led to more serious compromises. Finally, I gave my son a test. In response, he chose to give me only partial obedience. That led to his downfall. I had to remove the favor I had placed on his life and give it to David. I am not looking for sacrifice, my son. I am looking for obedience to my commands. My Son always sought to please me. That is my will for you as well.
