Laying It Down

Laying It Down

“When they arrived at the place where God had told him to go, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. Then he tied his son, Isaac, and laid him on the altar on top of the wood. And Abraham picked up the knife to kill his son as a sacrifice.”  -Genesis 22:9 & 10

When God gives us a dream, He takes great care in it. He will confirm the dreams He gives to us.  But, God also wants to know where we stand with our dreams.  Do we love our dream more than Him, or do we want Him more than anything or anyone else?

God gives us a dream, but He will put our heart through the fire of the test, to see if our hearts are pure.  Can we put our dream on the altar?  Will we put our dream on the altar?  The test is to see where our heart lies – are we completely His?  Are we doing it for Him or for our own ego?

There have been many times that I felt God laying asking me to lay down specific dreams.  Amazingly, when we put our dreams on the altar, God can do the miraculous with them, as He did with Abraham.  Abraham put his dream on the altar, and God realized He could trust him.  God fulfilled His promise to birth many nations through Abraham, “as many as the stars in the sky.”

When I laid down my desire to get married, I found a best friend, who happened to be a guy. Our friendship grew, until one day we decided we complemented one another very well.  When I laid down my own life’s desires in pursuit of God’s I said, “God, You can use anybody,” and He began to breathe on my life ministry.  It isn’t a rejection of God’s promises – it is just being willing to live life in surrender to His plan.  It is being obedient, and letting Him do the rest.

Will you let Him “do the rest” in your life today?
