Listening To The Father’s Heart

Listening To The Father’s Heart

Son, marriage is for life. Many use the verse you cite as a reason to end their covenant. But I would have you realize that my people were often unfaithful to me. Do you remember Gomer and my son Hosea? I had my son marry her to demonstrate an important truth about my nature – I am faithful in the face of unfaithfulness. I don’t want my sons and daughters looking for ways to end their covenant. Instead, I desire them to seek ways to demonstrate faithfulness in the face of unfaithfulness. I call my sons to sacrificial love. Pride says sin can take situations past the point of reconciliation; humility understands that I am the ultimate redeemer. Nothing is beyond my reach. Remember what my Son did for all my children as you evaluate your attitude toward the failures of others. No one should have an unforgiving attitude toward anyone if you understand the price my Son paid for you all. No sin is beyond forgiveness if you realize the price I paid for the sin of all my children.

But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery. Matthew 5:32

“I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the LORD.
It shall come to pass in that day that I will answer,” says the LORD. Hosea 2:19-21
