True sonship means that I Father you through times where correction is needed. If I fail to do this, you will be in jeopardy of failing to fulfill all I desire for you. Without chastening you are an illegitimate son. Embrace these times, my son, so that you will become more and more like my own Son. That is my goal for you. Righteousness will be the byproduct of my Fathering. You will no longer live as an orphan, but as the true son you were meant to be. This will insure that you will receive your full inheritance and my son will receive His inheritance for the price He paid for you.

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of[a] God through Christ. Galatians 4: 6, 7

If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:7,8,11
